The Role

Our Computer Science Department is forward-thinking and plays a pivotal part in preparing our enterprising students for lifelong learning, personal success and contributing positively to the wider world. We work collaboratively across the Academy and externally to develop solid technological expertise. We are aided in this through:

  •  Spacious Computing suites – eight dedicated ICT areas (2 central open plan and six state-of-the-art classrooms) plus a dedicated sixth-form centre for independent study.
  • Well-equipped spaces - interactive whiteboards or digital projectors, PCs, and an extensive range of software.
  • Established department – we have a strong take up of Computing at GCSE and A Level (OCR) and offer the Cambridge Technical in ICT at Key Stage 5 as part of our vocational pathway.
  • Strong teaching alliances – we work with other specialists to share ideas, broaden our knowledge, develop resources, and keep abreast of new developments and latest research. We have strong relationships with external agencies such as SAS UK and the Talent Foundry. Students have benefited from a variety of opportunities this year, including a future analysts workshop, as well as a data analytics event which enabled them to develop transferable skills.

Beyond the department, here is a flavour of what life is like at The Langley Academy:

  • Strong, supportive leadership team mentoring and 1-1 coaching from leaders across the Trust
  • Part of the Arbib Education Trust providing access to unique resources and pioneering museum learning, including on-site museum exhibitions
